Robert Small is an African-Canadian artist that has revolutionized how Black History Month has been celebrated in Canada. For 26 years, Small has created a poster called “Legacy†that features famous African-Canadians distributed across the country annually. Originally called The Official Black History Month Poster this poster has been distributed to thousands of schools, community centers and homes and seen by millions of people annually. The poster is also sold to school boards, community agencies, recreational centres, sectors of the government across the country each year. Small has played a significant part in elevating the awareness of Black History across Canada and internationally through his art.
