Presented by Matthew ”Testament” Jones

Matthew Jones also known as ‘Testament' has been using his natural speaking and performance abilities to empower audiences for over 15 years. Testament has performed all across Canada and internationally in South America and Europe.
He has appeared on Breakfast Television, CP24, and MTV. He has shared stages with the likes of: Talib Kweli, Naughty by Nature, Biz Markie, GZA of the Wu-Tang clan, Kardinal Official, and more.
As an artist and entrepreneur Testament is the co- founder of the P.E.A.C.E. movement, People Everywhere Actually Co-existing Equally. He loves to use his passion for music and art as way to communicate with the world.

DISTURBING ANTIBLACK RACISM

Presented by Rodrick Brereton

Roderick holds a BA in sociology from York University and is the founder of transformational social change group Urban Rez Solutions. As a partner of the popular SAY IT LOUD, Just Think 1 st , R.E.A.L School and Take Back Your World- Navigate Your Life initiatives, Roderick designs and delivers quality sustainable programming. A multitalented, multifaceted individual Roderick is also a Juno award winner.
The audience will be introduced to the concept of how structures of domination were key to the formation of Canada as a settler-colony. The presentation will also highlight how historical oppression and systemic racism has contributed to current racial inequalities and what society can do to counter anti-Black racism.

THE POWER OF BLACK HISTORY MONTH

Robert Small is an African-Canadian artist that has revolutionized how Black History Month has been celebrated in Canada. For 26 years, Small has created a poster called “Legacy” that features famous African-Canadians distributed across the country annually. Originally called The Official Black History Month Poster this poster has been distributed to thousands of schools, community centers and homes and seen by millions of people annually. The poster is also sold to school boards, community agencies, recreational centres, sectors of the government across the country each year. Small has played a significant part in elevating the awareness of Black History across Canada and internationally through his art.
